So what is ar500. Abrasion resistant steel plate grade used in high wear applications such as in mining equipment and concrete handling. Hardness range is 470 540 bhn with a nominal hardness of 500 bhn. Ar400 is a specialty steel designed at the chemical level for improved wear resistance for very specific applications. With a high brinell hardness number bhn ar500 steel is perfect for targets because of its functionality and safety.

The steel is relatively expensive to produce costing much more than simple mild steels such as a36 or 1018. It s often used as wear strips liners and deflector plates. Ar500 is a hardened steel that is commonly used for targets armored applications truck plows and in mining. This plate product is intended for use in applications where a good balance of impact toughness and abrasion resistance are required.
